Final piece - the factory

Description

This piece is my personal favourite and is the second part of my final piece. This is possibly the first time I have ever been really proud of something I have painted.
Again, this piece deals with the ideas of technology, corruption and destruction. What I had in mind is something almost like a repairs factory where this creature that looks like a wolf until you look under the flesh, is being repaired. Above, a human skull looms. I really wanted to create this idea of corruption and horror, and also give the sense that, even in death, even after mankind is destroyed by their own technology, they will still be destroying and corrupting nature with the technology it leaves behind.
The wolf, the skull and the crows are all dripping with and spewing up oil. Pictures of the gulf oil spill inspired me here, and I thought it would be a good idea to draw from a current example of how technology has failed us, and the effects that can have on nature. I really like how the oil worked out, I put so much impasto in the paint and left it so thick that it took about a day to dry. Now it feels and looks awesome and really jumps out of the canvas.
Again, I only used red in the eyes. Does it represent a spark of life? of hope? Or something far more sinister? I'll leave that one to you.

I came here in your gallery for your dragons, but this is way more interesting, composition and execution have caught my attention, but description and meaning have caught my interest. "technology, corruption and destruction" the idea of the human kind as a cancer that infect this planet with his technologies and constructions, It's an idea that crossed my mind many times, so I can see what you have done here and I agree with the concept. I did a similar piece some years ago which explore the same thematics, if you take a look to my gallery I think you will recognize it. But this idea of technologies that keep on to afflict the world even after the end of the humans race it's just sublime and brilliant.
So, great piece, I love it!
